Prestaties
De prestaties van de Samsung SD850 monitor zijn in verhouding tot andere schermen gemiddeld. Het contrast is goed met gemiddeld ongeveer 700:1. Ook de kijkhoeken vallen zeker niet tegen, dat is overigens te danken aan het MVMA-paneel. Kleurbereik is met 100% sRGB en 79% AdobeRGB ook gewoon in orde. Gray Ramp is echter wat raar. Hij slaat wat blauwig uit bij lagere waardes (boven de 7000K). Gamma is prima.Benchmark: Contrast gemiddeld

De kleurreproductie vanuit de doos is zeer matig. Het oogt echt uit balans. Als we in het menu voor de user-profile kiezen en alles op neutraal zetten, is het nog steeds niet helemaal lekker. Na kalibratie is alles gelukkig wel in orde en zien we een prettig plaatje op het scherm verschijnen. Het loont dus écht de moeite om de Samsung SD850 te kalibreren met bijvoorbeeld een Spyder. Sterker nog: het is zonde dit niet te doen.
